...Robin McDonald, the woman who actress Charlize Theron calls “my go-to,” it’s all about three-piece vegan, botanical-based skin-care that embodies SoCal’s holistic, environmentally conscious mind-set.

After 25 years of tending to Hollywood A-listers, the Beverly Hills–based esthetician Robin McDonald had a revelation. “I was seeing so many clients with really photo-sensitized skin caused by the overuse of prescribed topical exfoliants,” she says. “What they really needed was something that was kind to their skin.” With that intention, McDonald began mixing up gentle yet effective products using only nourishing organic African shea butter, certified organic oils, and botanicals. Before long, she was sending batches home with clients who had become hooked. “Robin really cares about the natural health and maintenance of the skin,” says Theron, whose own glowing complexion is a testament to the facialist’s balanced approach.

KINDri, her new natural, preservative-free line, features an antioxidant-spiked day cream containing green tea and natural mineral SPF30; a heavier moisturizer, packed with omega-rich baobab nut oil, vitamin A, and shea butter, soothes very dry skin and doubles as a night cream. Her secret weapon, however, is her multitasking SILK Treatment Oil: A few drops of the age-defying blend, which contains seven fast-absorbing oils (argan, carrot, pumpkin, grape seed, sweet almond, grapefruit, and sunflower) can be used on the face, body, and hair. But don’t expect McDonald to add a cleanser to the range anytime soon: She recommends that clients use organic virgin coconut oil, because, as she puts it, “sometimes you can’t improve on nature.”
